Summary - Texas Forestry Association

Texas Forestry Association is a trade organization representing those in the timber industry and represents landowners, mills, foresters, and loggers. The organization works to promote sustainable forestry through its membership network, education programs, and working with legislators on understanding the impact of this important sector of the Texas economy. In preparation for their 100th annual meeting, Texas Forestry Association hosted their centinial banquet in the organization’s hometown of Lufkin, Texas. Presentations during the event included video and slideshows that were prepared and edited prior to the event and a photographer was requested to capture the event. Press releases and media engagement were also required in the months leading up to the meeting. After the annual meeting, we continued to work with the client to produce materials for their various programs, provide photography at their events, and produce videos to showcase the events and people that make up TFA. Another priority was to assess and update the online training. A new learning management system, materials, and updates to the courses would be beneficial to those they serve, providing better accessibility both to the users and the organization. As the organization has grown, it became necessary to provide a way for board members to communicate the benefits of joining TFA. A media guide would help provide cohesion in messaging at any level.

Videos

For the 2019 Texas State Fair, TFA chose to incorporate video into their booth as a way to attract attention to the space that showcases the path from plant to product. Using an educational and informative tone, we created videos that were highly engaging to the audience passing by. The videos were also used as commercial spots in their 2021 virtual annual meeting and shared on the organization's social media channels.

With over 3,000 members that include private landowners, mills, and forestry professionals, the task to create a messaging guide became an important focus as TFA focused on activating their committees and boards to share the benefits of membership. Inside, the guide shares the TFA mission statement and organization structure, and key messages broken down into potential audience groups. An important feature of the guide is an index which explains forestry terms for easy understanding and clarity.
